HoboForge Survival Pocket Forager – Veteran-Made Micarta EDC Knife
Forged from service and story, this HoboForge Survival Pocket Forager isn’t just a tool—it’s a testament to resilience, craftsmanship, and transformation.
My name is Patrick (owner of Wood Craft Designs) I’m a medically retired U.S. Army Infantryman who served with the 25th Infantry Division in Hawaii. After injuries cut my career short, I struggled to find purpose beyond the uniform. But like every soldier learns, problem-solving is second nature. You’re given a mission, the tools, and told to figure it out—so I did.
After leaving the military, I worked with the Army’s Transition Assistance Program (TAP), helping other soldiers navigate the same Medical Evaluation Board process that once left me lost. The lessons I learned the hard way became stories that helped others find their way forward.
When I was laid off from my civilian job, I turned again to that mindset—create, adapt, overcome. That’s when I started learning to make custom Micarta knife scales. Inspired and taught how by Jason at HoboForge Survival, I began transforming discarded materials into functional art, proving that survival is about seeing what something can become, not what it is.
This particular Pocket Forager is deeply personal. The Micarta handle is crafted from my own military uniform, layered with care and precision. The pecan liner was originally milled by my stepfather, brother, and me— shaping wood and memory together.
Every detail represents a piece of my journey—service, family, and rebirth through craftsmanship. Jason’s ability to capture these elements and forge them into a beautiful, functional everyday carry knife is unmatched.
This isn’t just a knife—it’s a story of transformation, purpose, and legacy. A tool built to be used, carried, and eventually passed on.
