A hunting knife shouldn’t be designed around how intimidating it looks sitting on a table. It should be designed around what happens when an animal is on the ground and it’s time to turn a successful hunt into clean, usable meat.

That is exactly why HoboForge Survival built the HFS Hunting Season Custom Skinner.

For this hunting season, we are producing only 10 of these knives — five hand-forged from 1095 high-carbon steel and five from 5160 high-carbon steel. Once these ten are gone, this hunting-season run is finished.

SMALL BLADE. SERIOUS PURPOSE.

At just 5 3/4 inches overall with a 2 1/2-inch blade, this knife was intentionally kept compact.

When processing game, more blade isn't always better. Control matters. You need to be able to work around hide, connective tissue, joints, muscle groups and tight areas without fighting a blade that's longer than the job requires.

The compact profile gives you exceptional control for skinning, caping, trimming, deboning and detailed meat processing. The blade stays close to the hand, allowing you to feel exactly where the cutting edge is working.

This isn't a camp knife pretending to be a hunting knife.

It's a dedicated processing tool.

Our designs come from extensive experience with survival, hunting, animal processing, field butchering and working with edged tools in environments where equipment actually has to perform.

CHOOSE YOUR STEEL

1095 High-Carbon Steel — 5 Available
A proven carbon steel known for taking an extremely keen edge and being straightforward to maintain and sharpen. An excellent choice for the hunter who appreciates traditional high-carbon knife steel and takes care of his equipment.

5160 High-Carbon Steel — 5 Available
A tough, proven steel that has earned its reputation in hard-use edged tools. HFS has extensive experience forging 5160, and this version brings that steel into a compact, precision-oriented hunting platform.

Both are carbon steels and should be cleaned, thoroughly dried and lightly oiled after processing game.

WOOD OR MICARTA

Each Custom Skinner is available with your choice of wood or Micarta handle scales.

Choose wood for the traditional character of a hunting knife or Micarta for a rugged, field-oriented build.

Every knife also includes a custom pocket sheath, creating a compact package that's easy to keep close whether you're in the woods, at the skinning pole or working at the processing table.
